Copywriting Tips - Falling Into The Fad Trap

This is something that is so easy to do. It takes all my will power not to do it myself. Falling into the fad trap, however, can land you remortgages bad credit more trouble than you can possibly imagine, especially if that fad happens to crumble and vanish into cyberspace. You're then left with sales copy that is ineffective and unlikely to generate any substantial number Gourmet Chocolate sales. I'm going to explore some fads in this article so you understand just what it is I am talking about.

Before pop up blockers, a lot of copywriters would create exit pop ups to try to keep people at the sales page a little longer by giving them one last chance to take advantage of their offer or maybe a similar offer. Then the pop up blockers came and all of these sites had to be redone. This is one example of a fad that seriously hurt some sales pages. But not all fads are technology based.

Another fad was writing copy using certain kinds of catch phrases that may have been popular at the time. Most of these catch phrases are pop culture references. For example, with the recent Geico ads, "So simple a caveman could do it" there have been many sales pages popping up using this catch phrase. This is fine for now, but as this catch phrase dies out...and they all do...this sales page will no longer be effective and may even be viewed at as a joke.

Fads come in all shapes and sizes. Defining one is hard. Don't spend summer alone! just say, you'll know it when you see it. So what's the answer? Do you stay away from fads altogether? If you're running a short term campaign and want to capitalize on a current fad, then maybe you can get away with it. But if you're looking at a long term business for a product you hope to be around for some time, then maybe it's not such a good idea.

Here's the bottom line, and take it for what it's worth to you. The best sales copy is one where you have a solid headline, a compelling story and offer, a great guarantee, solid bullet Remortgages focusing on benefits, and a strong call to action. These things are timeless and will never go out of style. That's why some of the ads that were written 50 years ago could still bring in sales today.
